This article discusses how to find the fuel pressure regulator for the C5 Audi A6 Quattro 4.2 V8 as made from 1999 to 2004.
The part looks like a small brass-colored cylinder perhaps an inch or two long, mounted atop the fuel rail at the rear passenger side. It's more easily visible if you remove the center engine cover.
