The same radio main unit can be coded to work with three different basic configurations in the C5 A6:

- Non-BOSE configuration: Front speakers are driven by radio main unit; Rear speakers are driven by amplifier.
- BOSE configuration: All the speakers are driven by the amplifier built into the subwoofer in the trunk.
- BOSE configuration with telephone readiness option: Disables output to the front speakers because the telephone has a B-pillar speaker.

- Between the 4-door interior vs. the Avant, and adjusts the equalizer to fit
- As to whether a CD changer is installed or not
- As to whether a power antenna is installed or not
